I want to give my argument over why we should not nerf the mechanist so much.
To a lot of people this might feel new but there are people who play the game at more than 200 ping and face difficulty in lot of content because of this for example strikes, raids and fractals.
We can’t achieve the 80% dps with other classes easily and die to mechanics due to random ping spikes(not an Anet issue but still happens for us).
This is where mechanist comes into play, it greatly helps us to reach above average dps and with random ping spikes also we can survive and do respectable dps.
I made a guild for my time-zone and our commanders had really hard time to make people join end game content and had to disband the raid static. So having an easy to play option will greatly help.
Finally, this is my argument against heavily nerfing mechanist in PVE. If you agree or disagree let’s have a discussion
Nerfing into Skyrim is enough
It doesn’t need to be nerfed into oblivion but it needs something taken away/tuned down. Powerful utility, huge CC, simple rotation, 1200 range, cleave, all in one build
That’s not healthy for the game and is the same reason why people wanted firebrand nerfs.
Mech is as oppressive to class diversity, if not more so, than firebrand was pre EoD
Edit: I read a bit through the comments. I play on EU with 320 ping avg (50 less with a VPN) from Australia- while some builds suffer more than others, you can certainly achieve closer to a benchmark than 80%. As for encounter mechanics, it’s just a matter of adapting to the ping which takes some time/experience. It’s really not that bad. Ping shouldn’t be a factor when it comes to balance
Don’t have to nerf it into oblivion, no one ever said that needed to be done. Just nerf it enough so you don’t have 4+ people running mech in a fractal or a raid.
The issue is you can likely do more dps on rifle mech than any other spec in most fights which is very unbalanced. I have nothing against easier to play builds they just shouldn’t do as much damage as the harder to play specs assuming both are played well.
I led a raiding guild on NA that won a raiding tournament (ARP) with multiple players from South America with 200+ ping. I lead another raiding guild on NA now that has multiple people from EU and a few from SA with 100+ and 200+ ping respectably. We got 2nd place in the HRP raiding tournament and have set multiple speed clearing records. Ping will hinder you, but it’s not a big factor any game company should balance around.
Disagree. An auto-attack build should not perform this well. What is the incentive for good players to play other classes if they could just play mechanist and get better damage output on most fights (with zero experience!!!)? Knock it down - make it just a little better than supports so that nooblets can enjoy their first raid without getting flamed.
The issue with the mechanist is not the dps, the issue is it can easily be reached without the complex rotation other classes need to be effective.
Nerf it into oblivion. Power mech should’ve never been viable.
Few people are calling for it to be nerfed into the ground. But it is benching 38k dps, which is far too high. nerf it down to 33-34k that is fine and viable but not overpowered. Buff Holo back up to where it should be
I came back to the game last week with the steam hype, ended up buying EOD.
I’m a ranger player, don’t like alts, tried to play other classes many times but I couldn’t.
After seeing so many mechs around I mailed all my gear to a 10yo naked ENG alt and all I have to say is that It’s crazy.
I have finished the story on my ranger yesterday and now I’m gonna work on achievements… on the ENGI ofc.
Mech doesn’t bother me. Do you. Have fun.
What about people with over 200 ping who want to play specs other than mech?
What about people with under 200 ping who play mech because it’s simply better than everything else?
I think if your argument is that mech should be OP you have no argument at all. It needs to be balanced. One spec doesn’t deserve to play by a different set of rules than all of the others.
Shift power from the mech to the player weapons/kits/utility. Output will remain the same (more or less), and other specs won’t get caught in the crossfire.
I think mech doesn’t need to be punished for its simplicity, instead other classes should have simple builds as well.

Although I feel mech nerfs are needed, I am scared it will be nerfed too much without any kind of reasonable replacement. Honestly I would like to see slight nerf of mech and massive boost of other unperforming builds while taking into consideration what they can bring into fight. I will no be easy task to balance.

Agreed. No one raids, lowering the barrier to entry will help greatly.

Soo when Mech users used ONLY autoatack dps is around 14-16k based without food, infusion and with. My my suggestion is to disable the possibility autoattack option for engi Rifle and problem solved (manualy click 1111).
