Does Brave browser have a VPN/Proxy built in?

I am able to view a page using Brave, but not using Firefox and Edge (or anything else I’ve tried).

The page in question is blocked by the regional government. So, if I use a VPN, it works in all browsers.

So, begs the question : does Brave Browser have built in VPN/Proxy (or anything else they call it)?

Edit : I didn’t pay for any VPN though. I tried switching off the shield. Still the page works in Brave. I couldn’t pin point why it only works in Brave and not others.

IPFS and all Web3 functionality disabled.

It has a VPN, but if not wrong. You have to pay for it.

I’m almost certain that this is because of the DNS setting. Most region blocks just work by blocking the hostname in the local/regional dns servers. As soon as you use an uncensored DNS server you can access that site again.

Brave might be using its own dns configuration with dns over https or something.

Try messing with the dns settings in firefox. You can select a dns and also set it to always use that encrypted dns. You might be able to replicate it.

Opera GX also has a free/paid VPN, and I prefer it than Brave.

Did you changed your DNS? Check the settings of Brave if its uses a DNS (Cloudflare or whatever) region blocked will work (in every browser)

Brave has a built-in firewall and VPN, but it’s a paid feature and only available on iOS and Android. The reason you are probably able to access websites on Brave and not others is because of Brave’s built-in tracking shield.

If you’re looking for a PC browser with a built-in VPN, these are my top picks:
Opera
Wave Browser (.co not .com)
Epic Browser
UR Browser

Hope this helps!

I didn’t really ask for browsers with VPNs. I asked why a page was working in Brave and not in others.

I know opera also had a feature that is named something like web accelerators or something - essentially proxies that were re-routing traffic. Not sure if they still have it.

But Brave seems to be doing something similar. I was wondering what is happening. That is it.

Read this before using Opera and it’s spyware “VPN”. https://imgur.com/a/Lh23klV

No I’m not looking for a browser with a VPN.

I’ve tried disabling the shield completely, and the locked page is still accessible.

Only explanation that seems plausible is the custom DNS that Brave might be using. I’m out of ideas otherwise.

That page doesn’t exist anylonger. Btw, all the info about yourself or anybody else, they already have it (whoever you think, the government, the Chinese, you name it). So what’s the point to be careful or use this browser better than this another… that’s bullsh!t, you understand? VPNs are useful to see protected or unauthorized content in certain countries, free or paid are basically the same stuff… In this case feel free to use Chrome for everything, is faster, complete in searching, and they have the pan by the handle and the handle as well…

Chrome is slower than Brave and absolutely annihilates your RAM. Aside from being literally slower in almost every way it also slows down everything else on your computer or phone since it uses a stupid about of your RAM and CPU just to function, not even considering when you have a ton of instances open.

Feel free to delete Chrome and never use it again. It offers nothing and is in fact worse than most other browsers in reguards to performance.

Go ahead and argue against me, I know you think you’re right, I dont care. Im an engineer and I have actually tested this stuff and compared preformance on my machine. You’re wrong, Chrome is horrible and one of the worst in reguards to performance.

If you think having a VPN is useless and that all browsers accomplish the same thing, that it doesnt matter which one you use, then you’re so beyond help anyways that I dont know why im even wasting my time with this comment.
