It seems a lot of online newspapers know how many articles you have read per month. Would a VPN make it so that the newspaper would not know how many articles you read in a month?
it can but eventually that IP you’re using will get a paywall too. Just use Incognito mode or another browser that cleans out all cookies and cache when you close it.
If they are blocked for Europeans because of gdpr you can circumvent it. Don’t know on the top of my head which newspaper does this, but I have stumbled across many sites that do.
Not for me. Just clear the cookies for the site. You should be able to see them if you click on the lock or something on the top left of the address bar.
Yes, for some. I have one east coast newspaper I could never crack until I got a VPN with good obfuscation. Now I read it with ease. One I never expect to crack is the Wall Street Journal paywall. I use outline.com to read individual articles, but a hassle.
New York Times tracks you by WebRTC. I don’t know about your VPN, but mine will allow me to read as much as I want (5 article per month limit) in regards to how my VPN goes about blocking WebRTC leaks. My old VPN did not work for NYT (though it did not leak WebRTC), but for any newspaper that runs a paywall via WebRTC I can read as much as I want due to my VPN - and with the browser not in private/incognito mode. Don’t ask me exactly how my VPN does it, but I’m not complaining. They say “obfuscation”.
I pay for the WSJ. I don’t think they allow any views per month for free. Most others allow around 5 articles a month. It could be one of the best benefits of a VPN for me.
