Crunchyroll not working with vPN

Hey guys,

I’m based in Europe and recently got a Crunchyroll premium subscription. I wanted to try Crunchyroll US as I’ve heard they have way better licensing, but the only way seems to be with a VPN.

I installed a free VPN (Windscribe, very well rated) just to try it, and although everything else is working like I’m based in the US, Crunchyroll is still with my native country.

Any idea what free VPN’s might work or what’s causing this?

Thank you

It’s actually a very complex thing, if you are on android, clear up all app data, activate the VPN, and then open Crunchyroll, it’s a pain in the ass to get right. Never open Crunchyroll before you activate the VPN.

Try CRunblocker, its a chrome addon (If you have chrome)

I have the same issue right now. I don’t wanna watch from a country I’m not stationed in, but I do wish to browse the web with my VPN turned on.

I’ve always found crunchy a bit hit or miss with a VPN. Sometimes it will work straight away other times I have to sign out (of crunchy) and then back in.

They banned a VPN block due to abuse from those IPs. There’s a post from the stay on here a couple weeks ago about it iirc. Maybe it’s yours.

Change your language to English (US) at the bottom of the page, after that log-out and log-in again. The IP-Address you’re given by Windscribe could still be blocked by Crunchyroll, because free VPN-Services don’t have that many Servers and IPs available. So if Crunchyroll sees many Users logging in from the same IP they’ll block that IP.
I’d suggest you acquire a paid VPN-Service. That’s what I’m doing and for me at least it’s really worth it.

I’m using on my laptop

Is that safe though? Only 30k users, I’m always a bit scared to use extensions like that, since they can so easily get access to your account or track your online stuff!

So what’s happening, is it blocking your access at all, or does it just count you as still in Europe and everything works exactly the same?

I use it and have had no problems so far. It has an option to not store your details, it means you have to log in again every time you load chrome but I’d rather that than someone gain access. I’ve been using it for a couple of months and have been regularly checking what devices have accessed my account and it’s all good so far.

I’m getting:
“Error 1005 Access denied
What happened?
The owner of this website (www.crunchyroll.com) has banned the autonomous system number (ASN) your IP address is in (xxxxx) from accessing this website"

Still works as if I’m still in Europe

Common VPN IPs get blanket bans. Consider paying for one or finding a more obscure one that works

That means it’s saving something on your computer. Most likely a cookie. That has your region data.
Reboot your computer, active your VPN wipe your browsers cookies, then try.
