Consolidated VPN Discussions - E4100, etc
Hi all,
Just want to mention, because of the influx of separate posts, I’ll be removing them as duplicate to keep stuff cleaner for the sub.
Otherwise, continue to discuss here (or I guess the other thread).
As a mod team, again, we do not condone the use of a VPN, and be aware that the sub is public so anything you share is readable by anyone else.
Here’s a link to the previous post:

I personally think it’s mad that they are determined to block F1TV in Britain when the majority of presenters and commentators are British.
They’ve just lost my subscription.
Refuse to pay literally 5x the price and a hugely inferior and shoddy app that Sky offer.
Goodbye F1
Piracy continues to be a service problem.
F1TV provides a service that broadcasters like Sky does not, and yet they crack down on paying customers…
Cross commenting but so people understand the reasons companies do this and how they do it
All companies that use VPN blocks are in a giant game of whack-a-mole. They pay companies to give them IP lists of VPN and Data Centre providers. VPN providers can add and remove endpoint IP addresses and the list providers try and track these and update their list. It’s not perfect but it mostly works.
Given FOM are paid a lot of money by companies for exclusive rights for a country you have to look at these companies as the reason FOM are being forced to add VPN suppression. For FOM it costs them money to implement this and keep the lists up to date, so pressure is normally required to do this.
For people who have F1TV access at home and want to use it when they travel, setup a VPN on your side and connect to it when remote, lots of routers allow this and it’s trivial to setup. There are also simple options like tailscale which allow you to setup clients and endpoints to route your traffic from home.
I’m literally in the US and being told I’m in a restricted geographic region. So. I have no idea what to do.
looks like they’ve ruined it for non vpn users too now. lmao nice one f1
Watched Qualy earlier fine using NordVPN set to Austria. It didn’t work yesterday, looks like they’ve already replaced the broken IPs.
I’m at home in the USA, without a VPN, and with a completely legit US-based F1 TV Pro subscription, and F1TV is giving me the “You are accessing this service from a restricted geographic region. ER4100” error on all of my devices connected to my home internet.
I’ve confirmed that my home IP address is correct and geo-locates to my city and state.
It seems like F1TV massively fucked this up and has blocked many legitimate users that aren’t even using a VPN.
Fuck you F1TV…I paid the same as everyone else and now you’re gonna take away my access like that? Paying for access not content is just anti-consumer.
Smart DNS Proxy seems to work - so that may give you an option or 2.
Do you know what. I haven’t missed a televised F1 race in 40 years, since I was 8 years old.
But after Sky “tricked” me out of my legacy sub, I cancelled my Sky sub after 20 years and switched to F1TV.
As for F1. It is no longer what it was. This isn’t the 70s/80s/90s where you had great men, doing there best for the love of the sport and what the loved doing. The by product being a great sport we could all enjoy. You didn’t know who would win. If the car would make it. Or if Mansell would switch his car off on the last lap. Or if Frank would renew his driver’s contract at the end of the season.
Now it’s boring. Domination for years on end. Inevitable DRS passes. Infallible reliability. Teams, (and soon to be AI) generating perfect strategy, coaching/instructing the driver to an exacting result (unless your name is Sainz). And I’ve lost count. 30 something races a year? What was wrong with 16. It was no less exciting. And genuine characters. Instead of the endless, relentless, meaningless news stories. Sadly it’s no longer a sport, and this is the final nail in the coffin I needed.
It’s time to go cold turkey on F1 and find a new “sport”.
I would thoroughly recommend reaching out to the support team of your VPN provider. I’ve been chatting with mine the last 14 hours or so and they set me up with a dedicated IP address and F1TV now works. Took a few tries but got there in the end. I know it’s not helpful but I have chosen not say who the VPN provider is even though they are often incredible with the support.
NordVPN appears to be working for me today. Tried France and USA.
Well back to piracy for me… I’m not paying for sky just to watch f1… was happy to pay for f1tv pro.
I pay Sky and I’m still really annoyed by this. I already pay though the nose to Virgin Media for Sky Sports and the UHD upgrade.
But I’m often away from home, so I also pay for a VPN service and F1TV - Sky won’t make their catch-up service available to Virgin customers, and Virgin aren’t allowed to make my recordings available outside the home network.
So I’ve now cancelled the F1TV and VPN subscriptions. At least I’ll save some money I suppose.
Well I only subscribed to Pro a month ago and on Apple says cant have a refund and have paid for a full 12 months!. Not happy what a shame this has happened was just about to watch the Quali recap and zilch. Can’t even watch any of the retro programmes as well. Only watched two races seems an expensive two races that’s for sure !!. Have tried a multitude of VPNs from
USA to Netherlands none work. All the 4100 error now.
Hang on Maybe the Antarctic Zone for VPN still works
Just rented a server in the Netherlands and set my own VPN up, works a treat and about the same price as a VPN subscription.
How can we watch races now?
Smart dns proxy… free trial 14 days… you won’t regret it, works amazingly well
