Trying to set up my workplace VPN on my laptop, I’ve used AnyConnect on my phone and iPad and in the past on chromebook, and its always fairly easy but windows 11 is giving me headaches.
Hopefully someone here might be able to help…
On mobile devices: Sign in with work credentials, it sends a 2FA auth to my phone, I accept/enter 2fa cade, and the VPN gets turned on
On Windows, i go to the app and it takes me to Windows VPN settings.
I set it up, enter my login info, then try to connect and it never tries to get my 2FA code, it’ll make the attempt but then says it failed or timed out.
Does anyone know how to get 2FA to work with Windows 11 on Cisco AnyConnect VPN?
TIA
Have you tried using the .exe instead of the app? The app seems to be harder, at least initially. We tried the app, instantly hated it, installed the .exe so it’s just like it was on Win 10.
I use Cisco AnyConnect on my Dell XPS running Windows 11 for when I am out in the field. When I hit connect to the server and get prompted for my creds it has a field for “Second Password”, so I type, push, to get a prompt sent to Duo. I never get redirected to Windows VPN settings. I would definitely try what /u/Otaehryn suggested if you can’t get around being redirected to Windows.
Write 2FA code in after your password:
password2FACODE
I’ve never seen anyconect taking you to the windows VPN settings. What version of anyconect and where did you get it from?
We don’t use Windows but some users with iPhones and Androids push notifications had delays with 2FA (problem at identity provider), the connect timed out before they got the notification.
Writing in the code worked. I use Yubikey for 2FA so it always worked for me.
It’s the Cisco AnyConnect VPN app in the Microsoft Store.
I see. Never used that one. I use the regular installer. If you browse to the anyconnect url you’ll be able to download that from your company
