Can't see/launch PIA VPN in COSMIC?

Wondering if anyone else is experiencing this and worth bug reporting, or just an issue with my system. Launching Private Internet Access seems to do nothing, and no applet appears in the top bar.

sudo apt install libopengl0 -y

then the app will launch :)

Check you check you public IP address before and after activating it?

Unfortunately the client window never loads at all, so I can’t even log in. And the command line help even says the graphical client is required to be running to connect

Yeah, it might be a Wayland compatibility issue. Have you tried it on another Wayland desktop?

That’s untrue. You can run cmd line w/o the GUI at all.

Yes actually I’ve had it working on regular Gnome Pop OS running Wayland (manually enabled) for years now, but currently I only have access to my laptop which was clean installed with COSMIC Alpha 2. So it seems likely more related to cosmic specifically?

Here’s the first sentence of when I run piactl --help

user@pc:~$ piactl --help
Usage: piactl [options] command [parameters...]
Command-line interface to the PIA client. Some commands, such as connect, require that the graphical client is also running.

EDIT: It is possible to run the VPN after enabling the background service. This sentence from the PIA help is misleading. Thank you for the pointer

I’d say yes report it then. Could be the compositor.
