so im trying to cancel my total av and no one at customer service has responded. i was stupid to download this software in the first place and now i cant cancel it. has anyone had any luck canceling it? im really freaked out right now and i dont know what to do
Right, so this service is really cheating people into agreeing to auto renew subscription without their knowledge of such an agreement. At the very least it’s not transparent what you just signed up for. That is called cheating ! You can easily cancel any subscription by going to your account where you made the payment. I used PayPal so I went to my account and cancelled my subscription with TotalAV.
I’d like to add that my girlfriend signed up for this, and has my credit card in her PayPal account to make purchases. She went to cancel her account through email, and she was sent a link to cancel, and the link (an anonymous redirect through sendgrid) actually redirected her to a page ending with /offer-confirmation, and actually renewed her account for another month. She emailed them back, and they thanked her for renewing and ignored the entire message.
This company is trash, and I’m lucky it was a credit card, because if they try to charge me I am going to hit them with a chargeback immediately.
Avoid this company. This is one of the shadiest things I’ve ever seen in e-commerce, and I’ve seen a lot of dirty shit.

I have been tring to candel my account with Total AV all morning and I am very upset becuase there is no correct phone number, chatting does no good. I just want to cancel my account as quickly as possiblr
For anyone struggling to cancel this cancerous companies’ subscription lock (seemingly), I figured it out:
Log into the Total AV website USING YOUR PHONE browser instead of your PC. Go to “My Services” after clicking the three lines at the top right. You should see an option to “Cancel” there, click that and it will allow you to cancel.
Pretty easy to follow, but it took my 2 whole hours to figure this out. Will definitely never subscribe to them again, this process was a nightmare to figure out. I’ll update you guys if they charge my card anyway, but I’m pretty confident they won’t now.
Well 4 years later and I am having the same problem as this guy had 4 years ago. I guess they did not clean up their act yet! I have been unable to email, phone or adequately contact anyone at Total AV. Not even a recorded message-NOTHING. They charged me suddenly, out of the blue $159.99 taken out of my bank and keep sending me messages that my Total AV has been canceled. What is going on? It was supposed to be $19.00!!! I do not recommend this anti-virus company at all! I hope no one else gets stuck like this! I will update if I am successful.

Ok it took a couple hours and research. Go to your total AV app. Log in if not already. At the bottom of the screen you’ll see a person icon. Click that,it should be accts. Then click subscriptions. It’ll say my services. Should then show Primary service. In that box click manage. On the manage service look at your plan and click cancel. It’ll take you to a screen for 6 digit verification # to send to your email. NOTE!! This is where they screw with you. The email never comes. I tried resend over and over. Finally I scrolled to the bottom, in small print it allows you to put in the 1st 6 numbers of the credit or debit you used to purchase the damn thing. I did that and bingo I was free, but before they tried to sell me more crap. Plus don’t forget to also delete account on the app and dump the app after that. Their svc didn’t do diddly for me. So don’t get suckered by auto renew.
To anyone still having this issue.
Total AV using 2 factor authentication so when I was trying to cancel my account/subscription, it said that I would receive an email with a code. This email never arrived. I tried everything including changing the email my account belonged to and still didn’t receive anything.
I panicked a lot until I figured out after about an hour of thinking that I could make a disposable card using Revolut. There are probably other apps/services that allow you to do this but I used Revolut to make a virtual disposable card, made that my primary payment method for Total AV, removed my old payment details, and now Total AV can charge my Revolut card which doesn’t affect me since the card has no money. Doing this literally only took me 5 minutes and I was so relieved when it was done.

Im having problems canceling it because when I go to manage it and cancel it says I have to verify it, when I do it says it has sent an email with my code but nothing comes up in my email.

This app was handy for quite a while, easier when organizing my music per se, and I know I had a little trouble at first trying to find how to cancel Etc.
I had to go on the web, I know that for a fact. You can’t do it through the app or anything. I know I went ahead and did the 1.99 offer for a little bit, and that’s since been canceled as well - so I just did it through the website itself on chrome. I do believe they answered an email or message to tell me that.
Failing them responding, contact your bank to cancel the payment/direct debit. Hopefully explaining the situation, and that you’ve tried contacting the vendor directly, will be enough.
I ordered it at 99c basic deal nothing special when I woke up this morning there was a charge to the card CCD for 8.99 have iOS so there antivirus software don’t cover iOS there web shield might cover sites because the main ones we used wouldn’t let us access them with it on plus my access my security system with it on 99.cent wasn’t a big deal but when I got the charge 8.99 
this morning I was like heck what 
so I uninstalled it it was odd it sent me software to download like I ordered something else to I was thinking did I fall a sleep with hand on the touch screen 
For posterity. My dad (older guy) randomly signed up for TotalAV one day. You either have to email or call to cancel. Emailing went four days with no response, other than an automated ‘we received your email’.
First time I called, someone answered and put the receiver down so I heard background noises for about two minutes.
Second time I called, they wanted a ridiculous amount of information to look up the account. Not once did they ask for the account # until I refused to give them the last payment amount and what payment type used and specifically asked why they were not asking for the account #. How the fuck would knowing the standard amount paid help them ‘find my account’. The answer is this company is a horrible shit hole.
I’m going to be surprised if the account actually got cancelled.

When I bought a small software for a couple of dollars from TotalAv in 2020, I was not explained that I was subscribed to their service and it would be automatically renewed annually. I was charged $99 for renewal in 2021 without my knowledge or approval, and charged $149 for renewal in 2022. I found out the subscription only when I received a notification from PayPal a few days ago.
Basically,TotalAv may put you in a subscription agreement without you knowing it, and the price may jump secretly to $99, then to $149. TotalAv is not an honest company.
I wrote to them to cancel I got a response of " if you cancel you’re in danger". I once again replied. Please cancel. I got another email. If you cancel your in danger let us offer you this. Then I got mad and frustrated. Wrote them back, used colorful language. Then I got another email saying please don’t use coarse language. How can I help you? So I emailed them again saying I said please cancel my account.
I called my bank to tell them I’ve tried canceling this service and they refuse to do so. So please block them from charging my account further after the charge goes through I will be filing for a refund. My bank cooperated.
