Cannot connect to Plex on Android when VyprVPN is active

I have Plex server on Synology DS918+ NAS. I am using VyprVPN on NAS’ outgoing traffic. I am using NOIP.com and XXXXXX.synology.me DDNS and both work fine one Windows through Chrome (also remotely) and Windows client. I have set up proper port forwarding.

So, basically everything else works but I am unable to connect to my Plex server on my android phone whenever VyprVPN is active on my NAS. If I disable it, there is no problem.

My NAS is connected to my modem as is my desktop. I checked and googled pretty much all FAQs and stuff but I cannot find a solution. I checked and my desktop and my NAS have different external IPs but due to DDNS and port forwarding Plex works fine on every other device. I have added both these DDNS’s to Plex settings and Plex shows NAS external IP correctly.

Is there a solution? I would like to be able to use Plex on my phone, too, and have the outgoing traffic go through VPN.

You’ll need to split tunnel it

Run plex on a machine outside the vpn, so that it’s publicly available for remote connections.

I have a box for vpn stuff, and a seperate server for plex.

How are you running your Plex and VPN on the NAS? Docker?

Any idea how that is done? I am pretty noob with this stuff.

I’d rather not get a another box just for Plex as I’ve paid a lot for a nas which can transcode and has 30TB of space for my photos/videos/Plex stuff.

If there is no workaround, I’ll just have to settle for one of the two i.e. VPN server or VPN for outgoing traffic.

No, just Synology app. I have never used Docker but heard the name.

nope, unless your client supports it.
