Can we expect discounts for perpetual license?

I’m moving fully away from Adobe ecosystem after an atrocious Adobe support experience broke my camel’s back. I’m still using C1 from 2020, but would like the latest AI tools.

I just got an email from C1 with 40% discount. This is the same 40% loyalty discount code I get when logging into my account. But both appear to only be on the subscription. Any idea if the perpetual license will go on sale on their website, or retailers?

Not sure, but best option is probably to wait until Black Friday offers are announced for C1 and all other companies so you can avoid making the wrong choice. Not much longer to wait at this point

The most recent release (16.5) probably won’t see a perpetual license discount for a little while yet, but the third party sellers (B&H, Adorama, etc) will drop the perpetual price almost in half as the release ages; the last two times I’ve bought the perpetual license, it’s been 50% off, usually 6-9 months after the initial release.

You can also game it a little further, and buy a perpetual license during a discount, but wait to activate it until after the next major revision drops and it becomes valid for that next revision.

You can apply the 40% to the perpetual, on the prices page is the first one available. If you have a EU VAT number you get a discount too (depending how your country manages VAT) but black friday is definitely a good moment to buy C1.

I just received an email from Capture One to combine my loyalty discount (using version 22) with their Black Friday discount for 40% off any subscription. No mention of a perpetual offer (I’m in the US).

I am in a similar situation and want to wait till Black Friday offers to buy, but does anyone know if I can buy from europe in bhphoto? I heard sometimes is quite cheap there a lifetime license, and I would buy it there, but I don’t have an address there in the US. I can imagine I can put a fake address though, or the address of someone I know there, but I don’t know whether this can be even done.

I’m in a similar boat as you, been on a perpetual license for a few years. Finally pulled the pin on a subscription with the 40%, the AI masking + Match was worth the upgrade. Out of the box the changes were well worth it for me. AI masking is a godsend in my event workflow. PIcture matching does what it says on the tin. And they seem to have fixed the hardware acceleration bug I was experiencing, where C1 would keep having to calibrate the hardware acceleration whenever my laptop went on battery. I haven’t regretted going subscription. And I still have my 16.2 Perpetual. YMMV.

I signed up for a 20% discount on my studio subscription for next year. When looked at my account it was a button to click and it just needed me to opt in.

Do you know if the normal price for an annual Pro subscription is 219 EUR, or is that a discounted price?

I just noticed that the loyalty discount can be combined with the Black Friday email offer. That’s 131 EUR for a year of Pro, that sounds like a steal! Perhaps the best play is to snatch that deal, and then go perpetual license in a year, getting the latest version.

Thanks, this was very helpful info!

Also, some software has geofencing, so you might need to use a VPN to launch or keep using C1 if you have a US license. No idea if Capture One does any of that, though.

No address is needed to buy from BH Photo as they email you the key. You obviously need to pay with a fee free card otherwise you need to add the foreign exchange and any charges your bank make.

Yeah I think thats the normal price. I saw the discount this morning and checked, already forgot haha.

I think my current plan is 219 and I could to the all in plan for 160 or something. I’ll probably get that and then drop the all in plan next year

Sounds correct (price varies across countries, cheaper in the US). Yes I might do the same. I will wait and see what offers are there for perpetual on BF though, since this current offer won’t expire before then.

Black Friday the last few years B&H has had better discounts than the C1 website for me. I have purchased there both times and it has been seamless.

No I’ve used international as long as it’s same computer or account.

The card is not the problem, I buy many things in foreign currency. And how do they calculate your tax if no address is given?

So that’s misleading marketing, then? The email says:

“We’re excited to let you know that you can combine your Loyalty Rewards with our Black Friday offer to save 40% on any annual subscription. This exclusive is just for our loyal users. The voucher is ready—log in and use it.”

But if 219 EUR is the normal price, there’s no Black Friday offer. At least not yet.

What’s BF? edit: Black Friday lol

Sorry cannot help with the tax query. When I bought my one in Dec 2023, I paid $139 and it does not show any additional taxes or anything on the email I had from them.
