I am a recent migrant from Nord. In Nord, you can set certain applications to work with the killswitch, and if it disconnected from the VPN, it would imediately shut down those applications. I take it it doesn’t work that way in PIA, since I don’t see any options to add applications. So if it loses connection to the VPN, does it stop all internet traffic, unlesss I manually disconnected?
In a nutshell when you hit the large button to disconnect from the vpn (not closing the vpn out completely)…. And if you simply disconnect from the vpn and let it just sit there … it stops all incoming/outgoing connections/traffic until you reconnect
The kill switch will stop all traffic until you reconnect or the vpn reconnects on its own(however you set it up) … the PIA kill-switch only kills incoming/outgoing traffic… it doesn’t close out applications (I know what you are referring to as TorGuard is setup very similarly to what you weee saying about Nord).
If you torrent, bind your torrent client to the VPN adapter and don’t even bother with the killswitch, it’s redundant in that situation.
