Can someone help me understand what I need to install this?

I’m trying to install Hamachi on my acer chromebook so that I can play minecraft with my boyfriend who has a windows computer

I don’t understand anything about linux or what I need to download in order to be able to install Hamachi

So far I have been able to download the 64 bit Ubuntu thing from the hamachi website but after I installed it it said the app was now available in my terminal. I don’t understand what im supposed to do with that information.

I have tried countless sites to try to find commands that would let me install it and Haguichi but nothing is working

The only thing I’ve been able to come up with is typing:

$ wget http://www.vpn.net/installers/logmein-hamachi-2.1.0.165-1.x86_4.rpm

Then I get this result:

URL transformed to HTTPS due to an HSTS policy

Resolving www.vpn.net

Connecting to www.vpn.net (has numbers) … connected

HTTP request sent, awaiting response… 404 not found.

I have tried to put it in quotes and stuff like some people said to d online but it didnt work. if anyone could please explain to me what i need to do in order to be able to install these i would greatly appreciate it

Ubuntu and rpm do not fit. My guess is that you wanted to install LogMeIn hamachi VPN?
Why not visit their website https://www.vpn.net/ and pick the right one for your operating system?

wget https://www.vpn.net/installers/logmein-hamachi_2.1.0.203-1_amd64.deb

sudo apt install ./logmein-hamachi_2.1.0.203-1_amd64.deb

You can now start the app by typing its name in your CLI terminal. It means exactly what it says. If you are not comfortable with the terminal, start by reading up that absolute essential basic minimal knowledge and stop reading and downloading absolutely random stuff which is not intended for your OS!

But if you can put just the minimal effort in properly describing your issue and your OS environment, just as a courtesy to whomever is willing to put in some precious time to assist you, I’m sure things would be better.

For instance, what do you mean by “the 64 bit Ubuntu thing”? The whole OS? The hamachi package for Ubuntu? Why don’t you start by describing stuff as if you are describing it to people in far away countries who come together on an internet platform where they cannot see what you do or guess what you mean? People who might be able to help you if you just do the absolute bare minimum yourself?

If one of you has a public IPv4 address, you should just forward the ports on your router, to avoid having to use proxy like Hamachi.

Or if you both have IPv6, you don’t even need to forward unless you have an overzealous firewall on the router.
