Hello all,
I’m looking into the path of international league pass and wondering if anyone has recommendations for VPN service to keep your connection outside the US and which country to purchase from.
Not able to provide any major tips aside from just make sure you do lots of research. The NBA has put significant effort into fighting VPNs.
I tried 2 seasons ago. While the NBA LP itself was cheap, it rarely worked. I’m sure there are further workarounds I could have tried but it almost always knew I was using a VPN and blocked me. Probably location services on my devices or something.
That’s it. Not much help, but I hope you find a solution that works for you! I eventually caved and signed up for Bally’s.
I am not certain this works as it did back when I signed two years ago, but I’ve been cruising with that subscription since then. Won’t help you with blackouts at all though, just getting a cheaper LP.
Use a VPN solely to register your account and start your subscription. Do it from Mexico, where you can get the premium pass for $110 and the regular one for maybe $70 or somewhere around there. There are cheaper countries, but they won’t work everywhere else in the world so Mexico is the best alternative.
You do not need to use a VPN to access the LP content/games, as the subscription is valid internationally.
If you want to get around blackouts, which might be what you’re really asking for, I wouldn’t know anything about that and unfortunately it seems by others comments like using a VPN for the streaming itself isn’t to viable
Turkish Apple Account is the way to go from here. About $40 for the whole season.
Works perfectly and no web browser hassle…
Hello I was wondering if any had any luck buying the LP with a vpn ? I thought maybe if you change the country and region on your phone to Turkey and then add a pre paid gift card to your payment method and then downloaded the nba app and tried to purchase it that might work since the gift card is accepted everywhere
Blackouts can be bypassed with a VPN. Depending on your provider it should be plenty viable. I’ve used Nord/Surfshark successfully for a handful of seasons now. Last year it seemed like they were blocking certain IPs from Surfshark which required reconnecting so you connect to a different server. It happened every couples of games to me but since I use it on my google TV with the nba app, I just left the working VPN server on indefinitely (use a whitelist so nothing else runs through the VPN for speed/region issues). We’ll see what happens this year as the NBA seems to always be trying to counter this.
BTW India is the cheapest by far.
Wow can you explain this a bit more? Do you need to get on a vpn to start the whole process?
Do you not need to have a credit card linked to your newly created Turkish apple account?
Do you not need to have an active Turkish credit card on the newly created turkey App Store account?
No I gave up
edit: I looked in to Turkey but I couldn’t purchase the cards with Turkish money on them because of a US address
To be honest, I think I didn’t use one. I have ExpressVPN though. Your ticket to get in is basically the Turkish App Store gift card. You can just buy them on eBay.
No, no payment method. You pay with gift cards only.
Okay I almost have it set up. Problem is buying physical Turkish itunes gift cards. Only one on ebay for 100 lira. I can buy codes on some shady websites but they say cannot be activated from the US, but I might be able to from a VPN.
Thanks for the help, I’ll let you know if it works.
Ok, hang in there, bud. Definitely no physical cards. Got them as digital codes. Let me check the exact shop: halepo-shop. Are you able to find them on eBay?
Yes I found them. Next issue: won’t let me buy because of US address on my ebay account.
Yeah, that might be a tricky one. I’m from Germany, might be more common here to have Turkish ones. Gaming shops have them as well.
