Bought malwarebytes for both of my iphones but cannot do a scan

i have MB on my PC. Upgraded subscription to add both of my cell phones. it added the iphones no problem. in MB manage devices it shows that 2 iphones are being used, out of 3 devices total. but, now i am reading that MB can not be used on iphones. i am not able to do any scans on the iphones. read multiple places that iOS will not allow it? why did MB allow me to pay to subscribe them?

Because of how iOS works, antiviruses can’t scan your device like you can on your PC. Malwarebytes on iOS offers cool benefits though:

• Web protection (blocks malicious websites, phishing sites, and other online scams)
• Call/text filter (blocks robocalls and spam texts). Which is AMAZING during an election year :stuck_out_tongue:
• Ad blocker in Safari
• Identity protection (if you have this included in your plan)
• VPN (if you have this included in your plan)

You can read more about what Malwarebytes does on iOS devices here. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/malwarebytes-mobile-security/id1327105431

You can’t scan on iPhones due to each app being its own “sandbox” so most apps can’t function with other apps so a scan isn’t possible, not like malware on iPhones is common either way, it’s like that for any AV app on iPhone, all they’re for is mostly vpn and other forms of protection

Highly unlikely your phone was “hacked.” It was very likely an account you have was. Be sure to change all your passwords, make them unique and strong and enable 2FA/MFA on ALL of them if able.

Ya don’t need MWB or any product like that for your iPhone. None of them are allowed to function on the device due to the way the iPhone OS is designed.

yeah, but mwb asks/encourages to upgrade, and allowed me to pay for a membership without specifying “mwb cannot do scans on your device”. Misleading and i would have never paid for upgrade for the past two years. AND … my phone was hacked … there is a scam happening to the rbc bank where hacker gets login to your account, changes the phone number of one your payees . then e-transfers money to themselves. the bank is certain this compromise is through phones, not PC. first thing they ask is do you have protection on your device, and also demand that you wipe your device - which i refused to do. but, that is when i realized mwb was not sufficiently protecting my cell phones. i just paid $155 cad to renew membership to cover 2 iphones and pc. not impressed. what do you think the chances are of getting a refund?
