Bitdefender Ultimate Security

I am looking to purchase Bitdefender Ultimate Security. Since being a victim of identity theft thanks to the Equifax breach in 2017, I have been dealing with every aspect of identity theft. The attackers have tried to exploit any and every aspect one could imagine.

All the positive reviews has piqued my interest in purchasing the total package. The trust factor many have in BD for AV protection has provided me with the confidence in their ability to protect my digital realm. I just haven’t come across any feedback on the Ultimate Security package.

I would appreciate anyone that can share their experience with this new mega security suite being offered. I will most likely pull the trigger regrdless to experience it for myself, but it always helps to hear real world experiences from actual customers. Thanks in advance for any information provided.

I have used Bitdefender for a few years, after Norton. Currently using Total Security which has the options I need. I use a different password manager and did not feel a more comprehensive suite made sense for myself. At times there are some complications when family is shopping but the error is on protection vs being trouble free and possibly risky. Has blocked a number of malicious sites. It’s not my only protection but really intended for endpoint pc, tablet, phone protection. The VPN is a bit slow, but I have found they all are. I think one of the top choices.

While Bitdefender the AV/Security Suite has a good reputation, the VPN doesn’t. It’s not actually Bitdefender handling the VPN but some third party rebrand. I don’t exactly remember which one it was, just that r/vpn don’t trust the one Bitdefender got to handle their VPN service.

Also, there are better password managers than Bitdefender, like Bitwarden. The great thing about Bitwarden is you can self host it. Meaning you don’t have to rely on Bitwarden to sync if you don’t want to and even if Bitwarden the company shuts down, your password manager and sync would continue working. Plus Bitwarden is just 10USD a year so it’s not a big deal.

My setup is Bitdefender TS, Bitwarden, and Windscribe as my VPN. Windscribe isn’t exactly stellar and more so-so as a VPN provider according to r/VPN. It’s been good in my experience and I have no real problems with it. It’s just that It’s difficult for me to try some others because I’m in a third world country and for some reason the other well recommended ones like PIA aren’t accepting payments from my bank. Lol.

Hello! We understand the unpleasant situation caused by the data breach. The security solutions developed by our teams, and in particular the Ultimate Security, offer protection against identity theft and privacy intrusions, plus credit protection.

You also get several extra security features, like the Premium VPN which has a strict “no traffic logs” policy and the highest security encryption protocol (AES-256). Best regards!

I use ultimate and have been using bitdefender products for many years. Total security is awesome, constantly gets great reviews and light on system ressources. I have had a few issues from time to time where real time protection will at times prevent a program from running but this is an easy fix and really only happened a few times.

VPN is good! Some people don’t like it but I guess it depends what you use it for. I personally only use it when banking and streaming platforms when I travel and things like that and it does the job and easily so I can’t complain at all.

I like password manager it’s easy to use, syncs across all devices and genetates passwords automatically.

The identity theft protection for me is so so since I am not in the US it is very limited in what it does like telling you your email or other info has leaked and when from where but other than telling you to change your passwords it doesn’t do much if you’re outside the US, still pays the exact same amount as someone who can use the credit monitoring features which I find unfair but it is what it is… so I cannot comment on the “full suite” of identity protection per say.

I’d say overall it’s worth it but get a good deal specially if you are outside the US otherwise a good chunk of the price goes for Identity protection and is very very basic as soon as you are not in the US.

Can ultimate security be used for business? 100 users and 4 servers?

Hello brother, I am looking to purchase the bit defender ultimate as well, after going through an almost hacked attempt and constantly scammers trying to register my WhatsApp. It would be really helpful if you could advise me the experience with bit defender after the purchase (since post is 3 months old, I assume you might be already purchased and started using it) (pls describe the experience with VPN and password manager as well).

My phone has been hacked along with my stolen identity. It’s a terrible feeling to open up my mail to see another attempt at trying to fraudently obtain credit from payday shops that do not perform credit checks or make an attempt to open a bank account in my name at online banks that don’t use Chex systems which 99% of banks use to check the background of the person opening the account. I took all the necessary precations and froze my accounts. I reported the fraud to my police station which just documented the incident for validation of my claims. The police just documented the incident and handed over some literature on what to do next.

Then I had the theif submit tax returns in my name that took 3 years for the IRS to respond from the point of reporting time by saying yes your claim has been subtantiated. The attackers also applied for unemployment during covid even though I was employed. I went through the steps also with the FTC which eventually closes the claim after a certain time period. Moreover, my personal information is being sold on the Dark Web.

This is why I feel Bitdefender’s ultimate security package may be useful for a person in my situation. The monitoring of sites that foster theft which BD offers along with their tools seemd to be a good fit.

However, now hearing the opinion that the password manager through BD may not be my best option takes away some of the lure of the Ultimate BD . I am in the process of hardening my devices and improving my identity protection. This is why searching for an all in one option through BD appeals to me, but learning about some of BD’s shortcomings has made me aprehensive about BD’s ability to back up their claims.

With my particular situation, I feel it’s a good place to start while making adjustments to where BD falls short of my expectations. I will then adjust accordingly with just some of the suggestions that you made. Unfortunately, for the rest of my this will be something that I will always need to be hypervigilant about. I learned that changing my SS# can usually cause more harm than good in the long run.

Asa result, I plan on doing everything possible to mitigate these issues along with diversifying my protection which could provide better hardening practices for my personal identity and devices. I now believe the honus is entirely on me to safeguard my digital world because of the obvious inability of the police and FTC to actually make substantive change of my situation any better.

Thanks for taking the time to illustrate the plus and minus of BD as it pertains to my circumstances.

Ty for the information.

I never added protection to my mobile devices which was a big mistake. I intend to harden every device I use along with using the identity protection. I mostly read about positive experiences, but I wanted to hear real world experiences such as yours. BD seems to be the way to go when choosing security. The real break down of the product was necessary for me because one can’t believe what is written most of the time. There are too many shills lurking around nowadays when it comes to reviews of these products. Your experience seems to be on par with most other users of BD. Thanks for taking the time to share. Much appreciated.

I believe there are options for business, but I am in the process of learning as much as possible about BD which means you will need one of the BD experts that seem to pop in occassionally for proper information. From the little I researched, BD appears to be willing to answer questions when prompted. Compared to the other AV products, BD seems to work with their customers. Please note that some of my negative experiences with other products does not mean that is the norm. To each is own.

I almost purchased Norton, but after hearing about the degradation of computer performance with Norton changed my mind quickly. Also, the barrage of upselling truly turned me off. Of course those opinions could be just be from an angry customer, but I have now moved towrds BD for the Ultimate Security package.

I’m searching for first hand knowledge of using BD without leaving anything out. I delayed in hardening my devices so I’m extra eager to hear the good and the bad before making the commitment.

Hey no problem. I signed up for a trial on my 2 fairly new android devices. I can say that BD is the best one I tried so far. There are no performace issues and it does a great job of scanning my apps everyday with a great website warning. If I click on a link that they deem questionable, BD will do a quick scan for tracking software then either just let me through or warn me about any nefarious trackers and other harmful junk attached to the site and list why the site should be avoided. The software has been very easy to use compared to a couple I tried in the past with terrible results.

Today is the day I had marked on my calendar to actually sign up for Bitdefender Ultimate Security Plus. After signing up, I am abviously going to convert the mobile options in trial to a paid option and use every feature offered. I am a victim of identity theft and let me just say it is a terrible feeling that stays with you . There is a super long list of all the what ifs ruminating in your ahead after your privacy becomes compromised. Moreover, my phone was hacked which is why I started the process of figuring out the best choice to keep my identity safe and to properly protect myself with all the tools available going forward.

I haven’t tried the VPN yet, but I intend on using every option from BD that is available once I do sign up. Trust me, you never want this to happen to you and if you can afford it then I truly believe it is worth every penny. The feeling that you are protected and have options if an ID thief is targeting you is worth the money.

One small issue i feel I shoud mention. I did notice my PC’s performance slowdown just a a little bit, but I believe the reason is from my old PC which I am in the process of replacing. You can check back with me in a few days after I purchase and install the new package. By then, I will have a better idea of the functions and how BD Ultimate Security plus affects my pc. Just to reiterate, the mobile option has been top notch and I will know starting today how BD Ultimate Security plus performs.

Yep it is overall very good and I am happy with it! With your 10 licenses it’s more than enough to probably cover all your mobile devices as well. Back in the day when I used Apple their security suite didn’t do much, but now on Android at least it’s great. Has neat features and seems to be the best for Android compared to others and they’ve added a few nice things over the years. You can also use the VPN on them which is useful if you connect to free Wifi such as in hotels etc… I think you’ll be happy with it!

Norton is actually light and all AV programs try to upsell, it’s not just Norton.

Thank you for starting this post and sharing updates. I’m so sorry to hear about your identity theft. I was recently victimized and have become super obsessed with doing everything I can to protect myself.

Your feedback on Bitdefender is extremely helpful! I have been researching which company offers the best identity theft protection and it’s overwhelming how many choices are out there. I will ultimately try one of them and see how it goes. The worst that can happen is that I’m not completely satisfied and switch to a new company after a month or a year.

Your positive feedback on Bitdefender is very encouraging to hear. I have never heard of them or many of the other companies, which has further added to my stress levels. I’m also researching Malwarebytes. But I like the idea of having multiple products to protect myself and my devices.

Yes definitely needed in Android products. Your feedback has been very helpful. Ty.

I’m going on my second month and have only positives so far. They actually have a phone number for any issues that need extra attention. Surprisingly, they are super helpful and always corrected any problems I had. The problems stemmed from having two subs attached to my email because I started off with a trial and the system didn’t initally add my other devices to the plan.

Also, their Identity protection goes very in depth. BD allows you to opt in on just about every aspect of your identity that you provide to them. Good luck, protecting your identity is more important today than ever because bad actors are getting better and more braod in their identity theft.
