Best VPN for China?

I am travelling to China in April and I am aware of 2 major VPNs, Astril VPN and LetsVPN.

Can anyone tell me which one is more stable, faster and can be used on multiple devices? Also, will these VPNs function with an ESIM from trip.com?

Shadowrocket, I can send you the details

Currently traveling China over 2 months… I’ve been using mullvad vpn ($4.99 for 30 days, up to 5 devices) for my remote work and business without any issues… sometimes GFW (great firewall) attacked and couldn’t access even with vpn - just switch to different locations in the US or other countries to access if that makes sense

Yes, you can access to Meta or any other platforms if you’re using eSIM from trip.com with or without vpn

Happy travels

use letsvpn. Astrill for me was a complete scam, the app barely worked most of the time and was a hassle to restart. it was also super expensive for what it is.

I’ve been using my Astrill to get inside China’s firewall (to visit China-Only websites). That doesn’t seem to work anymore? Anyone else have similar experience?

Yes, they are stable in terms of re-routing their traffic.

The main advantage of a VPN is that you can use it on wifi networks so it is more cost effective if you are a very heavy data user. T

The main drawback of VPNs is their stability. Authorities are constantly blocking and the VPN companies find workarounds. It’s a cat and mouse game and if you are unlucky then you arrive at a moment when your VPN has been blocked.

Rather than a VPN you could consider buy a travel esim from Mobimatter.

Traffic gets routed outside China so any local restrictions are bypassed and you can access international apps.

Yes, please do if you don’t mind!

hi!! do you still have details? i leave tmrw and im so confused by all this! :folded_hands:

Thank you for the suggestion! I have heard of other esims that do the same such as airalo and nomad. Are these esim’s stable in terms of re-routing traffic? And better than VPNs?

Get one from trip.com they’re much cheaper

I am aware of the trip.com eSIM but i’m not fully sure whether the built in VPN is stable. If i was to get a trip.com esim i would probably get another vpn (like astrill) for stability, unless it’s not needed? Please let me know.

I always get trip.com e-sims there and they’re great! They reroute through HK, never had a problem. I actually now use trip.com e-sims for every country I go
