I’ve got proton, but I don’t feel it works great on the shield like a phone or PC. Is there any others that can be recommend other than Nord ect. Anyone use express or something with more options to determine how you connect, like wireguard or stealth ect? I use IPTV and feel like much buffer could be fixed by a different VPN, but on my phone works solid even on the same WiFi.
I use Nordvpn. The app is set to automconnect on system startup, it just works. No issues streaming with it.
You really don’t need one, to be truthful. . . I have IPTV, and I don’t use a VPN
I’ve used PIA and Surfshark on my Shield.
Both worked fine with IPTV
I’m good with Surfshark FWIW

Have you disabled IPv6 on the shield?
Personally I wouldn’t think a VPN would help with buffering unless your ISP is actively hindering your connection. Technically a VPN is giving it another hoop to jump through possibly adding more buffering. I suspect it’s the quality of your provider.
However seeing you mentioned it works flawlessly on your phone then it could just be a configuration issue with your shield, hence the IPv6 comment.
You can find torguard app on the Shield’s Google play store. They also do dedicated IP addresses so you can watch geo blocked tv.
Well my shield is not freezing using proton, but my firestick is. Peacock plays fine but IPTV the same as im using on the shield constantly freezes and I’m using proton connected to the same server in France… Idk maybe it’s the firestick and router it’s connected too.

Thanks I’ll look at what’s available, I’ve had ss and didn’t like it, I had pia back in 2014/15. I just feel like proton is held back on the shield for some reasons. Doesn’t have all the features/options that you have on a phone or computer.
I’m gonna disable it this evening and try that.
