I have Surfshark since 2 years and I love it, and I want to extend my VPN during the black Friday sales.
I found these deals
- Deal #1: $1.99 / month (24 months + 3 free months) for a total of $53.73
- Deal #2: $1.89 / month (24 months + 5 free months) for a total of $54.72
How is it that when Deal #2 cost less per month totals more cost at the end? because the months are not free and you pay less per month but more months !!! for $1.89 per month X 24 months (+5 free months) you should pay around $45 for 29 months, not $54 (which is $1.89 X 29 months, + 0 free).
Surfshark is a good VPN and I love it, but like ALL VPN providers their deals are somewhat good (but not 100% honest)
(will this post be deleted?)
The monthly rate is shown so that you can see the difference compared to our regular 1-month plan. However, the focus should be on the overall price. We do appreciate your feedback here and will work on making this more clear.
When this deal ends? I wanted to buy a new VPN subscription during Black Friday deals and Surfshark seems to have the best offer out there. But as I still have my VyprVPN paid until February 2024, I’d rather purchase a new subscription in the last day of the offer so the overlap period of two subscriptions is as short as possible.
this is a old thread, is the $1.99 still available? thanks
I agree that this is a bit of a shady sales practice. You only get the stated free months if you pay this price for the 24 months.
But, that’s just one of the many shady sales tactics out there across many industries. Just look at cable service providers: “You pay this low price!” - until you pay for all of the add-ons and fees.
Did the total come out in the check out? As I believe then TAX + VAT is added, or am I missing something
I think the per month price is shown after the discounts, so for 27 months you will effectively pay $53.72 which comes down to $1.99 per month on average.
It doesn’t mean that $1.99 is the price per month for 24 months. It shows how much it will cost you on monthly basis with this deal.
I currently have a subscription and when I click on extend my subscription in the app I do not see the current black Friday deals? Do I need to take a new subscription and cancel my current subscription?

Per month is also helpful
Please show both
Thank you
This is the correct answer.
No tax is added for my country, when I go to payment I see tax = 0.0
Also, if it was a tax issue the tax will be added to both deals
Yes, this is how they do it, but this is the reason I am posting about it: they are not giving you any free months, remove the term “free” from the deal and just say “1.99 for 27 months” or "1.89 for 29 months.
Noted! Thank you for sharing
Oh, I kind of misread the post.
They don’t show the price with the free months, they show how much $ it would cost you per month with the exact deal.
