Avast blocking all internet traffic

Ok Avast. I have used your service for the better part of a decade and, when i could, i paid for that service. (I can afford it right now so im on the free version) But starting a few months ago (probably more like 6 but im not sure) Avast started blocking all internet traffic for no reason at all. I never had any issue with Avast in the past so i never suspected that was the problem. I tore my computer apart, cleaned it, installed a brand new NIC card only for the problem to persist. Out of sheer frustration i started closing all programs. And when i disabled Avast my internet magically started working again. Problem discovered. So for the past month when my internet stops working i disable avast shields for 10 minutes and my internet works. Then a little later (its pretty random) my internet will stop working again. Sometimes hours later sometimes days but avast will eventually stop my internet and i am sick and tired of it.

had the same problem and postponed my decision to uninstall avast since it happened shortly after a Win11 22h2 upgrade. Hoped they’ll fix it with a future update. I gave up after half a year. Now trying out bitdefender.

Avast Webprotection seems to block traffic and not get reset when affected traffic is not happening again.

Temporary disabling web protection and reactivating helps until it thinks it needs to block traffic again…

Other pain point is that wifi network list gets cluttered with duplicates (with increasing indesxes) of the same network. There isn’t even a way to clear out that list.

Same thing happened to me a couple times, most recently today. I uninstalled the entire avast security suite, and not only did my internet start working again, but I noticed a significant improvement to my computer’s performance. It’s gotten way too bloated, and I also noticed that in task manager there was upwards of 9 processes all labeled Avast Antivirus (or whatever it’s called there.) The conspiracist in me wonders if they’ve split it across many processes so it’s harder to see what a drain it is on system resources and so it won’t show up as high in the list when sorted by CPU or RAM consumption.

oh here i thought it was just me, getting really annoying lately

It’s been happening to my roommate. It’ll briefly block all internet for about 5-10 minutes after turning on/restarting then resume normal internet connections.

I unistalked avast free with revo uninstaller network connection destroyed nothing works. Used revo restore
I want to fuck with these avast people so badly in on social media

Currently I am having the same issue. I was considering changing my wifi card, but I regained internet connection when I uninstalled avast.

The same thing is happening to me with mobile tethering internet connection.

I currently have the same issue! So annoying!!! Sort it out avast

Any update on this? I have the same issue and it started around the same timeframe OP mentioned (3-6 months ago). Connections and time to connect are completely random. Is the only solution to uninstall Avast and never use it again?

I restored ok then searched and found avast site recommended to uninstall.in safe mode! Did as instructed. Reboot and no internet connection fuckers I am restoring with revo no. What’s next step. I will destroy these assholes on social media as all should so :face_with_steam_from_nose:

Salve, sto diventando pazzo da una settimana, ma a furia di provare e cercare in internet ho pensato di disattivare la protezione di Avast premium security e finalmente Chrome con i video di youtube sono tornati alla normalità, tutto si carica velocemente. Ho provato a disattivare solo la protezione web, ma continuava a bloccarsi tutto. Così ho dovuto sospendere tutto l’antivirus. E dire che ho fatto l’abbonamento per due anni.

Uninstall avast and switch to bitdefender. I loved avast but that was too much. Sorry.

Thats the only thing that worked for me. I switched to bitdefender. Though some security experts say windows defender is all you need.

I’ve been researching Bitdefender today. May give it a try.
