I switched to the next-gen servers recently and I get pretty slow speeds now. The old servers in Canada I’d get 70-80MB/s now I’m getting 20-30MB/s in the same area. Anyone seeing the same results?
I don’t think the speeds are any better, that’s for sure. But I do find it amusing that sometimes PIA decides that the best server for me is in Albania, of all places. I’m in the US, and one device will get auto routed through the US, another one through Canada, and a third one through Albania, all the way over there.
I am in Florida and use Florida server. 313 MB/s down and 824Mb/s up on nextgen
My results:
With PIA VPN connected to Atlanta server: 183 down; 130 up.
Disconnected from VPN: 175 down; 131 up.
Effectively no difference.
Just did a quick speed test. It’s more or less the same for me. I’m on Montreal next-gen servers.

I’m getting super slow speeds if you count all the times websites say I’m in another country (usually Czechia?), so I have to stop and pause the VPN.
I can’t get ipleak.net to report back my IP to test, if they are sunsetting their current network and this doesn’t get fixed, it would be unsable for me.
Speed-wise haven’t even bothered since I have no confidence that my ip is masked by the vpn’s IP address, so not even worth using…

Im sorry you are experiencing poor speeds while using the VPN client. Are you experiencing these speeds while connecting over the WireGuard protocol? If you are not currently using the WireGuard protocol, try enabling this option in the settings of the VPN client.

The Next Generation Network gives the ability to achieve better speeds than our legacy network. If your network holds the capacity to achieve better speeds, you may realize using this option paired with the WireGuard protocol will increase the speed you are seeing while the VPN is enabled.
The reason your client is connecting to Albania is because it is attempting to connect before the first ping test. Albania is the first server listed alphabetically so you may run into this at times. Just disconnect the VPN and try again to get the correct server.

What do you mean? The IP you get when you as a client connect to PIA’s controlled server, is visible in the application and you can verify the IP address you are exiting from onto the public internet through sites like whoer.net.
Same issue here. I don’t know what PIA is doing but this is a no go.
ipleak.net doesn’t load correctly when on next-gen, the dns leak test thhrows up all errors on ipleak.net
Screenshots, you can blur the ip if you see fit. I dont understand the “doesnt load correctly” and “throws up errors” part.
