I purchased a $25 (NZD) prepaid gift card from Prezzy
It took about 25 minutes after purchase to receive confirmation and digital gift card
I used the same fake NZ address as my Apple ID for the card address info to be safe (McD’s address)
The cost on the app is $19.99 but I added a few extra bucks just incase
Apple accepted the Prezzy card just fine (Visa association I think)
Total USD$ cost for the card after fees, etc was $21.27
Not working for me either. Maybe a New Zealand gift card or something?
I was able to use a credit card from the US
I managed it using PayPal from the UK
I’m curious if using a new Zealand play store gift card would work for android

Did you redeem the card on the US account Apple ID or the NZ Apple ID?

I redeemed with NZ Apple ID. It wouldn’t let me purchase using US.
I have heard that you can change you region inside the app to US and it will allow you to us normal CC info.
I mean I just purchased a gift card. So I don’t think they’d care?

I managed to make it work…
I contacted Apple support, and through messaging I got someone to change some settings live from their part.
I basically did the same as the dude and got a 25$ card, which I failed to use to top up into my Apple account or pay directly through the Pokémon app through Apple Pay.
After a couple tries, the support desk managed to make the card work, I think it has to do with security settings in our Apple accounts.
The way I did, I tried twice with the support desk through the Apple Store, but the third time I just tried to buy the premium pass through the in game shop (also had tried before countless times but decided to give another go after the customer service guy allegedly changed the settings on my account.
Managed to get the premium pass. I wanted to snatch some extra poke gold but I can’t be bothered so go through all of this again so Ill just wait for the actual release and hopefully not have to do all of this just to buy through the shop.
