I’m new to Kodi and today just installed the Zomboided VPN Manager to connect to a VPN from within Kodi. The connect/disconnect is fine, but when the VPN is connected, all internet traffic on my Raspbian OS is routed through it … I don’t see any option in Zomboided VPN Manager which limits the VPN connectivity to just Kodi … Am I missing something ?
If you have PM just upload it to the cloud and stream it. They have VPN. Not sure I think RD has it also. I also have ExpressVPN it has ‘Split Tunneling’ and I can select which apps I want to run through my VPN. That is, ‘IF’ I’m understanding you correctly.
There are ways to setup split tunneling even if the vpn app doesn’t support it … there are many guides regarding this … the only reason I’m asking here is because I haven’t seen a guide yet which makes 100% sense for my case.
Lol. That’s what a vpn is for - to protect all your traffic. It installs an additional network layer on the operating system forcing all traffic.
There are some fancy vpn tools that then subsequently mess with that layer to give you some options but only at the expense of security.
What you are looking to do is called a ‘proxy’. Proxies are application specific rerouting of traffic. Not sure if kodi supports it but if you can find it on the settings there, have a look at your vpn providers setup guides. Mayyybe the also offer it.
I’m not sure what you mean by ‘PM’ and ‘RD’, but for ExpressVPN, they only support split tunneling on their Windows and MacOS apps. My raspberry Pi is Linux on the other end.
True, but going through a VPN adds a delay to your internet connection, no matter how small, and it doesn’t make sense for me to use VPN for ordinary internet browsing. That’s why I only want Kodi traffic to go through the VPN. Besides my Raspberry Pi has other services setup (the a DCHP & DNS enabled Pi-Hole) which will not work efficiently if they’re going through a VPN.
Also, I’m not looking to setup a proxy which Is something different. I’m looking to setup “split tunneling” for my VPN, so that only a subset of my internet traffic (Kodi traffic) is tunneled through the VPN connection.
I guess I’m lucky cause it works on my Android 6 TV Box. I do subscribe to ExpressVPN

proxy is exactly the same thing as split tunneling vpn. if split tunneling works, that setting would be in your VPN app. not all vpn providers support it - and also not on all plattforms as it interferes with the core networking firmware / driver
