What is your go to choice of VPN? I’ve seen PIA thrown around a lot, I used to use ExpressVPN, a bit pricier.
I’ve heard about setting up a seed box, but not sure if I can be bothered going that far.

I’ve heard about setting up a seed box, but not sure if I can be bothered going that far.
I use airvpn, express vpn was also good.
PIA is working great for me, along with bitport.io for seedbox. I have to turn PIA off to watch Netflix on my computer though which is annoying.
It can be cheaper to buy a VPS and set it up as a seedbox, and you get more out of it. Mine has Deluge with a web interface set up, a SOCKS proxy and a mumble server.
First question is do we need a VPN? I torrent and I am with Telstra and haven’t heard a peep out of them yet. But the first notice I get I will get a VPN…
I use PIA and Whatbox for seedbox (which is super easy to use).
Thanks for the replies all.
I eventually decided Nord was the best option after research but their speeds were not great upon trying them out. ‘Private Internet Access’ had better speeds but weren’t an ideal choice.
I use vpnsecure.me
Reasonably good service, decent speeds
I’ve got a VPS based in the US, and I run my own using strongswan
There’s also softether, which is very easy to setup and get running, and I would suggest it to anyone thinking of setting up their own personal VPN service
I’ve been using AzireVPN for over a year. Have been happy with them.
I recently signed up with NordVPN after reading lots of good things about them, but so far the experience has been a real let-down.
since the new data retention laws I’ve been using pia all the time on all my devices. but I have a question:
if I use any servers outside of Australia the speeds are borderline unusable. so I’ve been using the server closest to me in Australia. is this a bad choice? pia doesn’t keep logs but would my traffic still be captured and indentifiable to me? or would it just be encrypted traffic from that server with no way to identify who it belongs to (since presumably probably thousands of people are using the same ip)?
I use NordVPN because it’s based in Panama and not a 5 Eyes or 5 Eyes friendly country. You can often score a good deal and the customer service is good too.
NordVPN has been consistently fast for me. Servers all around the world to choose from. Based in Panama so not subject to legal requests for user data, which they don’t store anyway. Multiple users on same account too.

I recognise some of those words.
These days, I’d argue that everyone should use a VPN simple for personal protection amongst other things. Let alone geoblocking or torrenting.
A VPN is also useful to view region blocked content.
