I’ve been a ProtonVPN customer for a while. So far I have used the Linux app, the Windows app and the Android app. All have an option to connect automatically on start-up, from what I remember.
I recently bought an Android TV device. I installed the ProtonVPN app. From what I can see, though, the only way to use the VPN is to open the app and connect to a specific server.
Is there a way to set the app to automatically boot on startup and connect to the VPN?
Hi! At this moment, the auto-connect feature isn’t available on the Android TV app, however, we have shared your request with our team so they can implement this functionality in a future update to the ProtonVPN Android TV app. Thank you for the feedback!
I too just got an Android TV device and would like to see this feature.
We are two years later and this still isn’t a feature it seems? Seems like something that is quite important for a VPN system, no?
New ProtonVPN customer here. When will you be able to implement this feature? No having this really sucks. I was with NordVPN and the possibility to auto-connect on Android TV existed already 5years ago.
It’s been more than 2 years now and you just added split tunneling to android TV any chance you can please do auto connect on startup or kill switch? Please I just joined and I need this feature
I was switching from express VPN to proton and this has stopped me. I just want to be able to set it and forget it.
Still not here after 2 years
What’s happening with this feature? It has been 2 years, it’s the only reason I’ve not switched to protonvpn.
ant this is why I am using Mullvad. It is so much better.
Hi, if you’re still looking for a solution, it’s possible to configure Proton to run through the OpenVPN app, which has an auto-connect on start-up feature.
It’s far less ideal and user friendly than simply having the ProtonVPN app have such a basic feature, but it might suit the purpose you need it for. It only works to connect with a specific server though, so far from ideal.
I might check that out, thanks. I don’t need a lot of configurability so the auto-connect might be worth the little bit of trouble to set that up.
