Android app 1.66.3 keeps closing on Chrome OS

My Tailscale Android app on Chrome OS just updated to 1.66.3 and now it keeps closing when trying to open!

Anyone else with similar situation?

We have Tailscale set as always on and block connections without VPN on our Chromebooks. The 1.66.3 release has been stable for us. Maybe a low memory situation?

Have you blocked notifications for the app? Do you have other VPN apps installed or running when you’re starting Tailscale?

Also, have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app?

Hade the same issue on my HP Chromebook. Uninstalled and installed Tailscale version 1.62.0 that I found on apkmirror.com . Now it finally works.

Just uninstalled / reinstalled – no change.

No other VPN apps running.

Checked Android settings - enabled Notifications for Tailscale app – no change.

Can you provide a stack trace of the crash using adb logcat? Please reach out to our support team at [email protected].

I’m not sure how to do that on Chrome OS, as Android is running in its own VM and container.

I don’t have a ChromeOS device to test this, but there are some instructions here: ADB and testing Android apps | ChromeOS.dev

Scroll down to the adb connect arc bits. Thanks
