I’ll try to explain the best I can - I have pihole and piVPN both running successfully. I can connect to my piVPN when away from my home network but I get no Internet connection when doing so. Al the setup tutorials I have followed mention port forwarding 51820. Does that make a difference in the connection from outside of my home network? The photo is what my router has for port forwarding - I am not sure how I should fill it in to accomplish this.
Set service name to piVPN, protocol UDP, external port 51820 (this will be whatever port you set on piVPN), and internal address to whatever your piVPN server private IP address is.
You will need to set the IP address for your VPN server to reserved so the IP does not change.
You have to have port forwarding set up for your VPN server in order to connect to it outside your home. Otherwise when your router receives an incoming request to that port, it just drops it.

But that’s not OP’s issue? They can connect to the VPN, but the outbound connexion doesn’t work. Doesn’t sound like a portforwarding issue… unless OP enabled a firewall on both sides of the router?

I had this issue once, but sadly I don’t remember. I vaguely remember that it was an issue of masquerade on the VPN server : the connexion was working, but the misconfigured VPN server didn’t send back the answer to the VPN clients.
